Capital of Amazonas state, in the north, the city is located in the center of the largest rainforest in Brazil.

Manaus in addition to being an industrial city and the sixth richest city in the country, is also a historical and cultural city located between the Rio Negro river and Solimões river, the city is one of the best known worldwide for its tourism potential by being home to various temples, palaces, museums, theaters, parks, rivers and waterfalls.

Manaus has several hotels and restaurants and in 2009 received the award for best green destination of Latin America through voting conducted by the world tourism market during the World Travel Market in London, and in 2010 during a survey of tourists the city was rated as satisfactory by domestic tourists with 92.4% of approval and 94.0% by international tourists.
